Kristin: Nikki and I are here today to share a little bit with you about our upcoming group. It's a six-week virtual group to help you live your best life with fibromyalgia.

Nikki: We have been getting a couple questions so we thought we would answer them. So our first question was, what can I expect from each group session?

Kristin: So every group session is going to start with the check-in, then we're going to give you some information on topics that are relevant to helping to improve your quality of life or manage your fibromyalgia symptoms. Our goal with this is to take the best information that's available from the research and from Nikki and I’s clinical experience, and give that information to you in a very digestible way that you can apply to your life. We know that there's a lot out there so we've done some of the legwork for you so you can have the best information to run with. Then as [occupational therapists] OTs, we love to use activities as a way to help people gain insight and build skills. So, every session will include an experiential activity that we’ll do together. That will help you take that information that we're giving you and actually apply it to your life. We'll end every group with doing some goal-setting together so that you have a personalized next step, for how you can take, what you've learned from the group and apply it into your life for the next week.

Nikki: Where will I be when the six-week group is over?

Kristin: We hope that first of all, you have more insight into your unique experience. With fibromyalgia, everyone's experience is different and the goal in all of the activities that we do is to provide you with an experience where you'll get to know how your fibromyalgia symptoms show up and what that experience is like for you. You will have a bigger tool kit of practices and strategies that you can implement into your life to better manage your symptoms and do the activities that are important to you. And finally, you'll feel a greater sense of ownership. You’ll feel more confident navigating the fluctuations of your symptoms and just have more direction in making changes to your daily routine that will better manage your symptoms and just help you live a better quality of life overall.

Kristin: Nikki, what is your hope for how people will feel at the end of this group?

Nikki: When Kristin and I first started talking about this group, I was sharing a lot about my personal experience with fibromyalgia. Some of the things that came up for me was that I felt really alone and like I was like on my own. The doctor also told me like to make a bunch of changes but I had no direction. So our hope is that you will build a community of folks that you can really relate to and feel connected with. We hope that you will feel more direction in how to make lifestyle changes that will support you better. And then also just more confident in engaging in meaningful activities without worrying about having a flare-up, or [about] how you're going to manage your pain so you can just live an awesome life.

Kristin: Our group is enrolling now! We are starting on May 1st and we hope that you'll join us. We are currently running an early bird discount until Friday, April 7th. So if you are stoked about this group and if you want to join us, we hope that you all enroll before April 7th. [We are offering] an early-bird rate and Nikki and I are also throwing in a free session with either one of us that you can use at the end of the group to help you dive into any topic a little bit deeper or problem solve anything that's coming up once the group is over.
